Balgownie Estate Shiraz 2021 is a classic Central Victorian red crafted from vines planted in 1969. This full-bodied Shiraz opens with aromas of mint chocolate oak and deep dark fruit, moving into a palate packed with black and purple fruit that delivers both weight and a savoury edge. Fine tannins and a powdery, cocoa-like savouriness mark it as a wine with structure and depth, while the 14.4% alcohol lends plush warmth and lingering complexity. Each glass reveals new layers, highlighting the wine’s textural richness and impressive complexity. The 2021 vintage is bold and unresolved in youth but promises excellent drinking and cellaring over the next two decades, especially as it gains cohesion with age.
