Albillo
Albillo is a historic Spanish white grape variety, most notably found in regions such as Ribera del Duero, Madrid, and the Sierra de Gredos. The grape thrives in continental climates and diverse soils, from granite to limestone, often in small, old-vine plots-some over 50 years old. While Albillo was traditionally used as a blending grape or even as a table grape, it has recently enjoyed a renaissance as a varietal wine, especially after Ribera del Duero officially recognized Albillo Mayor as its first white grape in 2019.
