Head Riesling 2024 from Head Wines in Eden Valley is a finely etched, high‑altitude Riesling that captures all the drive, purity and minerality you’d expect from old vines on stony Pewsey Vale hillsides.

In the glass it’s very pale straw, with freshly squeezed lime, lemon and grapefruit, green apple, sea spray and crushed stone, backed by hints of citrus blossom and subtle tropical notes as it opens up. The palate for Head Riesling 2024 is tightly coiled yet textural – powerful citrus fruit, chalky minerality, a hint of mango and white peach, racy acidity and a long, dry, saline finish that screams classic Eden Valley.

It’s superb with oysters, prawn cocktails, fish and chips, roast chicken or fish in white sauce, and it will absolutely sing with Thai or Vietnamese dishes where the acidity cuts through richness. Critically it’s flying, with 95 points from Ken Gargett (Winepilot) and a 93‑point silver medal at the 2024 Barossa Wine Show, marking it as one of the standout Rieslings of the vintage.
