Plantagenet Wyjup Collection Chardonnay 2023 from Plantagenet Wines in Mount Barker, Great Southern, is a small‑batch, old‑vine chardonnay that’s intense yet beautifully refined – proper high‑end WA gear. Grapefruit zest and lemon curd interplay with soft stone fruit, white peach and pear, layered over roasted cashew, nougat, brioche and struck‑match flint. Aromas of stone fruit blossom, almond meal and wet stone add extra complexity without losing that cool‑climate freshness.

On the palate, Wyjup Collection Chardonnay 2023 is full‑flavoured and richly structured from 50‑ and 38‑year‑old vines, 100% barrel ferment and full solids. Punchy stone fruits sit up front, supported by citrus, saline minerality, smoky/flinty notes and subtle oak spice, finishing dry and savoury rather than creamy or sweet. It’s a wine of real layers and precision, already rated in the 90–95 point band and built to flesh out nicely with a few years in bottle.
