Fetherston Estate Nebbiolo 2019 is a single‑vineyard Pyrenees Nebbiolo that’s all about perfume, fine tannin and cool‑climate precision, rather than weight or oak. It’s pale garnet in the glass but don’t be fooled – there is serious structure and length here.

Aromas run to black cherry, raspberry, rose petal, alpine herbs and cassia bark, with hints of fennel and spice. The palate is medium weight with juicy cherries, wild herbs and a line of orange rind and spiced strawberry, carried by exceptionally delicate yet assertive, dusty tannins and fresh acidity through a cool, long finish.

It’s drinking well now but built to age, with a peak window out to around 2030 if cellared well. Food‑wise, think classic Nebbiolo pairings: truffle pasta, mushroom risotto, braised beef or lamb shanks, rich ragù, hard cheeses and dishes with earthy, herbal notes that echo the wine’s savoury side.
