Domaine Daniel Dampt et Fils Chablis 1er Cru Côte de Léchet Magnum 2023 is a thrilling left‑bank Chablis – steely, floral and powerful – bottling up that Kimmeridgian limestone into a seriously classy large‑format white. In magnum, this Côte de Léchet 2023 is built for the long haul, with Allen Meadows (Burghound) slotting it at 90–93 points and recommending drinking from 2028 onwards.

Aromas move from citrus confit, lemon and lime zest through acacia and white flowers to poached pear, green apple and a lick of iodine and wet stone. The palate is bigger and richer than many Chablis, yet completely Chablisienne – medium‑bodied, succulent and almost seductive in texture, with layered citrus, pear and white peach over a dense, chalky, flint‑and‑stone mineral core and a complex, sneaky‑long, beautifully balanced finish. In magnum it will develop even more tension, power and savoury depth over the next decade plus.

On the table, this Chablis 1er Cru Côte de Léchet Magnum 2023 is a dream with oysters, scallops, grilled fish, lobster, sashimi or simply roasted chook with lemon and herbs, where its acidity and minerality cut through richness effortlessly. It’s equally at home with goat’s cheese, comté, roasted vegetables or fine seafood platters at big gatherings, and as a magnum it’s exactly the format you want for special dinners where top‑shelf, age‑worthy Chablis needs to impress.
