Gilbert Family Wines is a celebrated sixth-generation Australian winery rooted in a heritage dating back to 1847, when Joseph Gilbert first planted vines at Pewsey Vale in the Eden Valley. Today, Simon Gilbert and his son Will - both renowned winemakers - lead the family estate, focusing on producing elegant, cool-climate wines that reflect both tradition and innovation from their base in Mudgee and Orange, New South Wales.​

History and Wine Growing Regions

The family's winemaking journey began in South Australia, with the Pewsey Vale vineyard, and continues through Simon and Will, who now craft wines from premium sites throughout Orange, Mudgee, and Eden Valley. Orange, in particular, is prized for its high elevation and volcanic soils, contributing vibrant intensity and finesse to varietals such as Riesling, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, and Chardonnay. The Gilberts work with renowned vineyards, including Borrodell and Mayfield, and are constantly evolving their approach through innovative winemaking practices.​
