Aligoté

Aligoté is a classic white grape variety most famously associated with Burgundy, France, where it has been cultivated since at least the 18th century. While often overshadowed by Chardonnay, Aligoté thrives on southeast-facing slopes and in warm, dry years, producing its best results in appellations like Bouzeron. The grape is also grown in Eastern Europe due to its tolerance for cold climates. Traditionally, Aligoté was used for blending or as the base for the Kir cocktail, but it has gained attention for its varietal wines, especially from producers who tend their vineyards with particular care.
