Aromatico

Aromatico, most often referring to Traminer Aromatico (also known as Gewürztraminer), is a highly aromatic white grape variety with deep roots in Northern Italy, particularly the regions of Friuli Venezia Giulia and Trentino-Alto Adige. The grape’s name comes from the village of Tramin in South Tyrol, and it has been cultivated in the region since at least the 11th century. Traminer Aromatico thrives in cool, well-ventilated vineyards with sandy or marl soils, often influenced by the nearby Adriatic Sea or Alpine foothills, which help preserve its vibrant aromatics and acidity.
