Domaine Naturaliste Morus Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 from Bruce Dukes in Margaret River is an impressive, flagship Cabernet – all gravitas and polish – drawn from gravelly heart‑of‑region vineyards that echo top Bordeaux in structure yet feel distinctly coastal WA. This 2022 Domaine Naturaliste Morus Cabernet Sauvignon marries tremendous fruit intensity with finesse, refinement and a long, seamless finish that has critics lining up big scores.
The nose shows concentrated blackcurrant and blackberry with plum skin, mulberry, bay leaf, cocoa, cedar and pencil shavings, layered over hints of graphite, cloves and nori‑like savouriness. The palate is full‑bodied and deeply layered, with an almost sweet, plush black‑fruit core wrapped in firm yet polished tannins and bright acidity, giving notes of dark cherry, mulberry, cedar, graphite and clove that roll on through an impressively long, composed finish. It is powerful and concentrated but beautifully balanced – built to age and already wonderfully complete.
This is prime territory for dry‑aged rib‑eye, lamb racks with rosemary, slow‑braised beef short rib or venison, where the structure and savoury detail can really flex. It will also sing with hard aged cheeses, truffled mushroom dishes and anything featuring chargrilled capsicum or eggplant, making it a natural choice for special‑occasion dinners and serious cellars alike.
