Moppity Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon
About this product
Moppity Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 from the Hilltops region of Southern NSW is a powerful, classically structured cabernet that’s now in its prime – deep, savoury and complex, with all the hallmarks of top‑shelf cool‑climate Aussie cab.
On the nose, Moppity Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 shows blackcurrant, cassis, cedar and tobacco leaf over graphite, earth and hints of honey, soy, mint, bay leaf and violet as it opens up in the glass. The palate is rich and ripe even at eight years of age, with those black fruits ballooning across a frame of resolved tannins; it finishes long, savoury and composed, with a fully mature feel that leading critics suggest enjoying over the next few years.
From an Aussie sommelier’s lens, this Reserve Cabernet 2018 is tailor‑made for slow‑roasted beef rib, lamb shoulder, or venison pies, where its depth, earth and cedar integrate beautifully with richness and fat. It’s also superb with hard aged cheddar, Gruyère or pecorino, and a dark chocolate dessert if you want to lean into the wine’s brooding, serious personality at the end of the night.
