Fetherston Estate Syrah 2019 from the Yarra Valley is a refined, cool–climate Syrah that trades on perfume, spice and freshness rather than sheer weight. It’s a mid–weight style with real detail and food friendliness.

In the glass you can expect blackberry, black cherry and dark plum alongside black pepper, violet, subtle smoked–meat notes and a touch of graphite and earth. The palate is medium bodied with bright acidity, fine–boned tannins and classy French oak sitting in the background, giving shape and length without dominating.

On the table, Fetherston Estate Syrah 2019 is ideal with grilled lamb cutlets, roast duck, chargrilled beef, mushroom dishes and hard cheeses, and it also suits richer vegetarian plates built around lentils or roasted root veg. It’s drinking beautifully now with a short decant, but still has the structure to reward a bit more time in the cellar.
