Lake Breeze Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 from Langhorne Creek is a classic, pedigreed Aussie Cabernet – rich, smooth and powerful, yet perfectly balanced and brimming with life. Drawing on 40‑year‑old vines on the Follett family vineyard, it shows lifted aromatics of black fruits and violets with cedary oak, spearmint and eucalyptus, then flows into a concentrated palate of chocolate and cassis with a wonderfully long, silky finish.ejournals.

Traditional open fermentation is followed by 20 months’ maturation in French oak barriques, giving depth and polish while letting the old‑vine fruit stay front‑and‑centre. The result in 2023 is a Cabernet that “blends the best of two worlds” – dark cocoa nibs, cassis, black plum, spearmint, cedar and potpourri on a juicy, savoury, detailed palate, with fine puckering tannins that never intrude. It’s delicious now but clearly built to age superbly over at least the next decade.

For food, Lake Breeze Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 is made for lamb roast, steak, rich beef dishes and hard cheeses, where its blackcurrant, plum, mint and chocolate notes match richness and savoury depth beautifully. It will also sing alongside slow‑cooked meats and game, thanks to its structure and long, elegant finish. Serve it around 16–18°C to show off the aromatics and keep the tannins in perfect balance.
