Domaine Asmara Private Reserve Durif 2019 from Heathcote is a monumental red – super‑full‑bodied, deeply coloured and built for long, patient cellaring. Off a hot, low‑yielding 2019 vintage on red Cambrian soils, it was hand‑picked, wild‑yeast fermented in open bins, hand‑plunged and matured in a mix of French and American oak for 10 months to tame all that power.

In the glass the colour is virtually impenetrable, almost black, with a powerhouse nose of blueberry, dark cherry and plum, wrapped in black and purple fruits and a velvety, mouth‑coating feel. The palate is massive yet surprisingly seamless, with dense dark fruit, fine‑grained tannins and a very long finish that screams top‑shelf Durif and will happily evolve in the cellar for up to 20 years.

Domaine Asmara Private Reserve Durif 2019 is made for big flavours – think slow‑braised beef cheeks, rich lamb shanks, smoky BBQ brisket or a slab of aged cheddar and other robust hard cheeses alongside hearty winter dishes.
